The Black Keys - Just Got To Be
So we have had lots of time to practice on the course. I am excited about the swim with the waves at the start and finish. They could be of an advantage or it could make for a tough start to the race. Either way it excites me. I always appreciate a challenge.
The bike rout is a two lap course with rolling hills and some 180s. Not difficult technically but is a good challenging course. Last night I took sand paper to the tires so today I worked on getting my confidence back on the corners. I seem to have a good grip on the road now so that is a relief. I have my hydration plan set and I feel really good about it as temperatures here are up in the mid 30s and quite humid.
The run is a simple 4 lap out and back. There is a false flat heading out and a slight down hill going back towards the finish line. There is NO shade so I suppose it is at the 5km mark that I will know if I got my plan right. haha.
The race start has been returned back to 10:30 so we should be hitting the run around 11:45 ish. He he I love it. One of my goals for the weekend is to race smart. No hero moves and riding smart. I feel strong but I need to race smart.
Well I am off,
Ciao for now,
Andrew McCartney
