Here comes the mileage!

bongiorno,

So it has been a while since my last post with school nearing crunch time. But I have found some time to sit down, put the legs up and update my blog spot.

Training is going well. I have had more energy than in the past due to some changes I have made in my nutrition thanks to Suzan my Nutritionist. I mean I have always been concious of my nutrition but I found it surprising that I was not eating enough. So I am eating pretty much all the time now. When I increase my calories my Metabolism also increases so that I am maintaining my current weight of about 145-48. It has been pretty interesting.

I ran the Bazan Bay 5km. A race in "Sunny Sydney By the Sea" But it was certainly not sunny. I woke up to pouring rain coming down sideways. Not Ideal but I do enjoy running in extreme conditions so this excited me. Warmed up eagerly awaiting the beginning of the race. The race began with a comfortable first mile. I felt like my pace increased the entire time and what's more I was working with an amazing pack of runners. With a strong sprint to the finish I posted a personal best of 20 sec. The Final time was: 15.51. Though I am happy with the time, I know I have more in me. With sub satisfactory weather conditions and aching legs I know I can do better.

So in the swimming pool, I have had some solid sets, and a few seasonal Personal Bests. But it is cycling that is seeing leaps and bounds. Going from purely commuting due to lack of transportation to blazing around Lands End and the Water front. I am looking forward to the Sunday Hammer Fests with the Victoria Wheelers as soon as this rain storm passes on to Vancouver. Thanks Andrew Russell for those great races on the bike, finally someone else who wants to race as much as I do in a workout that's meant to be base effort. Oops......Cheers.

The First Annual Uvic Undie Run for Cancer was a success. Controlling the pace was the Vikes Cross Country and Track team and with a strong finishing kick it was Rich, Darren, Geoff and I hand in hand across the finish line for the cameras. Good race Guys!

Well that is all,
ciao for now and take care,

Andrew McCartney
